Diploma in Counselling Coaching Skills from March 2009
We are very pleased and excited to be able to offer this brand new course from March 2009.
This course has been developed in consultation with training purchasers and utilises the many years experience of training practitioners in the helping and caring professions as well as client work.
The course is aimed at those practitioners currently working in the caring and helping professions and those who are looking for a change in careers. It is a ‘blended’ or ‘hybrid’ course combining face-to-face study with online learning. The use of online and class based teaching strategies allows the course to be more responsive to students different learning styles. It reduces class learning time and allows the students more time and flexibility. A recent study coming out from the University of Central Florida suggests students enrolled in hybrid courses have the highest rate of success! (Sorg, Juge and Bledsoe)
Practitioners in the caring profession The model integrates counselling based echniques; Solution Focused, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) into a coaching framework. It is therefore very useful for practitioners in the caring and helping fields who need a wide range of skills as the support they give includes roles such as mentor and coach and therefore require a more extensive and flexible toolkit. Following the successful completion of the course, practitioners will not only be able to coach, but will have the necessary counselling skilled to allow then to specially coach clients with emotional difficulties to help them overcome these difficulties and live more fulfilling lives.
Re-training for a new career In addition, for those of you considering a career change, the programme is designed in accordance with the Association of Coaching training requirements to become an associate member. Therefore students who complete the course requirements and then the practice requirements of the Association of Coaching can become coaches and advertise themselves as such.
Qualification structure The qualification comprises 3 key units.
The counselling coach role Develop reflective ethical good practice Support and coach people with emotional difficulties
It is a comprehensive 150 hour course which includes: 90 hours e-learning 30 hours supervised practice 4 workshop days (30 hours)
